Question:
I'm new to playing guitars and don't have much of an ear as to the sound of guitar I'd like to purchase. Right now I'd like to purchase for looks. Sorry but I can't help it. When I acquire a taste for the different sounds, I will then make another purchase. But for now I love a few V's out there. I guess the Gibson flying V would be the best choice but I don't care for that particular rounded V look. I really like the Jackson King V's. How are they? Are there other good V type or funky style guitar companies out there? The music I'm learning to play is very, very heavy
Answer:
Jackson V's are good - the USA one's are generally thought to be great instruments, especially if you like the thin neck design. I'd still like to get my hands on one at a sensible price Japanese series Jackson's (e.g. KV3) are also good for the money, but watch out for the quality on the bottom of the range stuff like the Performer & JS series The Jacksons that I've played that were made in America are top notch guitars! The Gibson of course is as well, but I like the big huge jumbo frets, and the pickups in the Jackson American made guitars.. Try one out and I think you will be suprised at the quality.. Check out a Jackson Flying V, then play the Gibson Flying V. Check out several of both and take your pick.
