Question:
I've been playing for around a year now. I listen to rock in general, and heavy metal (Favourite bands: System of a Down, Rage against the machine, Papa Roach). I have a cheap Squier strat. I saw an ad for Jackson guitars in a magaine and I suddenly felt like going out and buying a jackson. What do you think of these guitars for the kind of music I mentioned, and what are some good alternatives.
Answer:
I've been playing for around 15 yrs or more and play USA Jackson guitars exclusively. The one thing to keep in mind for the style of music you have suggested is the need to tune down , in some cases way down , and most Jackson's do have a floyd rose style floating trem . Unless your proficient at trem and neck adjustments you'll want a guitar without a trem . There are a few Jackson models without a trem , if this is the case then I suppose they would do just fine . My advice would be to visit all the local music stores you can and play everything they have , find the guitar that plays and feels right in your hands , this should be your next guitar. Technically the American Jackson factory is in Ontario California . I'm not sure of the exact location of the japanese plant. Jackson started in San Dimas CA . then moved part of it's production to Ft. Worth in the 80's , Finally settling in Ontario Ca.
