Question:
I've been looking for a legitimate and hopefully thoughtful review of the CD Motor Scooter ever since I released it and today I finally got one. This is a real lesson in self-confidence. There are some good things in the review and some not-so-good things...the first points I sat up and paid attention to were the ones that were not so good. What could I have done better? What will I remember next time? Should I throw up my hands now and save myself the embarassment? I thought I would share the review with any of you who are interested. It makes me think that when you put yourself out there, you have be prepared for everything! Tell me what you think: The full review is at this site: http://members.tripod.com/~marketer/soundbytes/jackson.html
Answer:
I read lots of great and positive things in this review, and agree with all of them. Was especially pleased to see the focal point of Jackson's talent is as a lyricist, knowing how hard you work at them because they don't come easy for you. That has to make you proud girl! The only negative comments seem to all be about standing out from the crowd and differentiate oneself from the rest, and that, even if true can't be all bad. How many of us wouldn't love to be compared favorably to our idols in that way? I'm not familiar enough with your style of music to really have an informed opinion on this but speaking simply as a listener, I truly enjoyed your songs and the performance on this CD. One last thought, the reviewer felt Kickin' Myself was perhaps the weakest song on Motor Scooter, and that left my mouth hangin' open. I find that particular cut to be one of my favorites, appealingly honest, clever, unique and totally you!
