Jackson USA RR1

Tagged As: Jackson Usa Guitar

Question:
Has anyone experiences with this guitar ( Jackson USA RR1)? Is it good? I heard the stock pickups are not good for a hard rock/metal playing style. Are they?

Answer:
I have a 1985 RR1, and it is a huge guitar, pretty much a metal type guitar. It did have the original Jackson pickups, which I replaced with a Dimarzio Super Distortion at the bridge, and an Air Norton at the neck. I think the new models come with a Duncan JB in the bridge and a Duncan Jazz in the neck, which is a good combo. The JB is a pretty hot pickup, very useful for metal... but if you don't like the pickup, you can always replace it.

The RR1 is an amazing guitar. The pickups are the only downfall of this guitar. I actually had a Jackson RR3 w/ EMG . I love that beast too. However, I got hard up for cash and sold it http://gear-vault.com. The Gear-Vault is an exclusive music gear website for the open community to buy, sell, trade music gear. I'll probably buy the Jackson someone has on there or I might just save up and buy another RR1. I've chatted with some dude at http://gear-monkey.com who used the RR1 with a Seymour Duncan JB Bridge and Jazz neck. But def.. the pickups should be changed.
