Question:
I'm considering buying a new C.F. Martin guitar. Before I would make a purchase like that I'd have to hear their sound. What popular artists play these guitars and on what songs have they recorded them?
Answer:
You're kidding, right? I still think we're being had. Consider this: mlf4guitar said C.F. Martin, not just a Martin so there is awareness of the name. Before I make a purchase like that implies they certainly know it isn't cheap. If you have that much knowledge of the instrument, you're just a little bit away from knowing a lot more. Any music dealer can add to the information (even a non-Martin dealer). I can't believe anyone contemplating the purchase of a Martin, and knowing the price, would simply stop there. I could easily believe them asking does any one have some opinions on the different models? Then again, I could be wrong. I am pretty sure that Clapton uses Martin's in most of his acoustic stuff. Martins have been used extensively by many, many artists, for all types of music! Clapton does indeed use a Martin, as does Keith Richards on many of the Stones Unplugged cuts. Turn on TNN or CMT almost any night of the week & you'll see country artists using them. Different model Martins are built for different purposes & sound quite different. You should visit the Martin Web page @ WWW.MGUITAR.COM for more information. You don't need to know who plays a Martin. Everyone who is anyone either has played or owns a Martin. I own 8 guitars and have been playing 30 yrs and I consider it a pleasure to take out my old martin d-35 (1968) and play it for the pure joy of it's full rich tone. With a lifetime warranty to the original owner, a Martin is something you will enjoy your whole life, and pass on to your kids! That's not to say there are not other great guitars, but no one has built guitars so long, and so well as the Martin factory in Nazareth Pa.
