Need Case for Martin 0-18

Tagged As: Martin 0 18 Guitar

Question:
If anyone knows where I can get a case for this guitar would you please let me know. I was thinking about getting the standard Martin blue case, but any hard case would probably work. Don't really want one of the professional travel cases.

Answer:
You are correct that you can get a 14 fret guitar into a case that a 12 fret guitar won't fit into. Interesting thing, though. I used to own a 00-21 and still own a 00-18. Both these guitars were made in about '71. The each had the blue molded case and the cases were identical -- the 14 fret guitar fit perfectly in the 12 fret guitar's case. My guess is that Martin at the time was not getting distinct cases for the two different shapes. This does not in any way contradict the advice you gave, I just thought it was an interesting bit of trivial and useless information -- something in which I specialize.

I have a Martin O-18 (built: 1958). I have a hard shell case (dark burgundy w/ dark burgundy plush lined interior). Although the case is slightly larger than the guitar, I glued an ordinary kitchen sponge at the end where the peg is and the guitar fits perfectly.

vintage instruments in philadelphia can get you a case for a single ought. the cases are made in new york and are superb. I have bought two of them, black hardshell with pocket inside made special for 0 size martins.
