Question:
I've been a player for about 10 years and have suddenly developed an unexplained urge to learn how to set up/repair acoustic guitars. Other than taking a cold shower, what advice and learning materials would you all suggest for someone who is wanting to learn more about guitar repair? Books? Videos? Courses?
Answer:
A good book I found is Guitar Player Repair Guide by Dan Erlewine. I got it because I wanted to try my hand at repairing a guitar. I bought an Ovation Elite 12-string off of Ebay. The top was smashed in, cracked in 3 places. One crack ran from the leafs (it's an Ovation, sound holes near the bridge) the length of the guitar. Using techniques in this book I was able to repair the top to where it is now a playable guitar again.
