guitar amp blue book?

Tagged As: Blue Book For Vintage Guitar

Question:
Is there any place I can find blue book values (expected used prices) for most guitar amps? I'm searching for good amps that come in and out of used guitar shops but want to be able to know the difference between steals and complete rip-offs to be able to haggle for a decent price.

Answer:
Vintage Guitar's Price Guide. $20 list, $16 from Amazon.com . The amp section isn't as thorough as the guitar section, but it's all I've seen. A lot of people subscribe to Vintage Guitar mag just to look at the ads. You'll see some wide swings in price from one dealer to another, but if you read all of the amp ads each month, you'll definitely become knowledgeable about the range of prices vintage amps sell for. Plus the articles are enjoyable. I use eBay's completed sales to get handle on what the current street prices are.
