Incidentally, is there any way to make an LP sound more acoustic, if need be? I've just read a review about this special wooden plectrum, that is supposed to make the electric sound more acoustic. Is this feasible?

I don't know about that wood plectrum, but I do know that Boss makes an Acoustic Simulator pedal. Musicians Friend has it for $99.99. The pedal is the Boss AC-2 If you are relatively new at guitar the problem with the G string may be with you. Some Paul's have a very sensitive G string and if you are slightly bending the string on the upper frets it can be a little out of tune. So if your tech cant' find anything wrong with intonation then you may need to work on your technique.
