I was wondering if anybody has any experience/information/opinions about either the Peavey Firebass 700 or SWR workingman's 4004 head.

And you know this because you've actually tried the Firebass 700? I mean, I would hate to think of anyone giving an amp a bad rap without even trying it out or hearing anything about it. Point is, Peavey makes several high end amps, including the Firebass and the Kilobass that are a hell of a lot better than anything that SWR, Ampeg, Trace, or Eden make for the price range. Of course, this is IMO, but I can say this because I've actually tried (and currently use) Peavey amps.
