Yorkville bass amps -- HOLY CRAP!

Tagged As: Yorkville Bass Amps

Question:
Has anybody ever tried these Yorkville bass amps? I just tried a combo200 watt with a 15 and it is incredible. I'm thinking about selling my ampeg setup for a thousand and getting the yorkville for 500. Then I get justify getting a new bass

Answer:
I own a used Yorkville Bloc 80 combo (80 watts, 15 inch speaker), and while it is louder, its tone is not as warm or pleasing (to my ear) as the tone produced by my Ampeg BA-112 combo (50 watts, 12 inch speaker). I had a KMD brand combo amp that was made by Yorkville. 200 watts into a 4 ohm 15 speaker. There was also an extention speaker jack. I was amazed at how loud that amp could get. But the tone was harsh with the treble or high mid turned past 1/4. Yorkville also builds Traynor amps. They are a step up in quality. I have one of the 70's tube bass amps and I love the tone it give me.
