Suggestions for beginner with non-guitar music degree.

Tagged As: Guitar Music For Beginner Tab

Question:
I am wanting to pick up the guitar again after taking lessons in junior high (15 years ago) and primarily learning how to play rock songs. I remember a few chords and how to play a few songs. Since then, I received a bachelor's degree in classical percussion so am looking for suggestions on method books given my limited guitar experience and music degree. I'm looking to primarily play rock, blues, and folk music. Also, suggestions on a good beginner's acoustic guitar (no more than $300)

Answer:
I suggest an electric guitar with a mini Marshall ( 1 watt, 9 volt battery). I was also thinking about an acoustic, but they just don't play that well and are not that adjustable (unless you get over $1000). The electric is more versitile, and the little pocket amp is great for fooling around, or jamming with an acoustic person ( I also have a monster amp but thats besides the point). For books get a book on scales and cords -> then search for the required TABS on line. Also music store for CD & combo books ( ie: Blues rythme section for practice of your solo leads, when you are ready) what ever style.. 2c fast_eddie
