Fender Bassman Amp

Tagged As: Fender Bassman Amp

Question:
The Fender Bassman amp is for Guitars, correct? Then where did the BASSman name come from?

Answer:
No, it's not FOR guitars, it just happens that alot of guitar players like them, since they are really voiced well for guitar. I'm not an old Fender amp expert, but what I guess might have happened, is that they needed a bass amp at some point, and they borrowed the schematic from the classic Fender preamp circuitry (maybe making some small mods) . If you look at Fender schematics, there's alot of commonality. Personally, I don't like them for bass, because the sound is so scooped, and doesn't have any lower midrange punch. I prefer a much flatter EQ, with a little boost in the low mids. It might be a good amp for a slapper maybe. Other prob is wattage of course.
