I'm just beginning to get into Jazz, and I am curious what type of amplifier people are using? I am looking for something that is suitable for practice at home and that could be played in small club settings.

The best thing to do is audition as many amps as possible before you buy. There are a lot of good suggestions hear. It seems to me that a lot of jazz players are either using Polytone Acoustic Image Clarus Evans Custom amps (what I use) Rich Raezer Cabinets general we are looking for lots of head room (loud with no distortion) and a rich warm sound. There are any number of boutique amps out there and you could spend a small fortune on one. Polytones are not that expensive, neither are a used Fender or Peavey. Most of us Jazzers are not into lugging a lot of heavey equipment around so we tend to go for light and portable. A Fender Twin Weighs a ton.
