Can someone estimate the value of this Kustom Amp?

Tagged As: Kustom Guitar Amp

Question:
The amp is a Kustom 200 Guitar Amp on coaster wheels, 4-10 inch Altec Lansing speakers, everything built in, reverb, fuzz, chorus. Black leather two piece head and speaker cabinet. It was purchased new in 1971 and has had one careful owner only, still looks new. Anyone care to give a rough estimate of the value of this thing?

Answer:
Sounds like a wonderful amp that won't sell for a whole lot of money. Perhaps there are buyers that will pay big cash for it, but it will take awhile and might not happen on eBay. Take a look at completed auctions first. It's probably a very nice amp that won't draw a lot of interest. The Kustom 200 heads, by themselves, go for $100-$200 with only the very nicest getting top dollar. The 4-10 Altec cabinet is almost certainly worth more than the head. Both together *maybe* as high as $600-$800 with a really slick add and very nice pictures. Only if your timing is perfect, and the planets line up just right, will you get any more than that for it.

I had the very rig you describe when I was in college (I'm an old guy). It was the first decent amp I had owned, and I loved it, but lost it in a fire. They don't bring much money these days, except to folks who aren't familiar with them and find them novel because they're "old", and of course they have that tuck and roll thing. If you would like to sell it, I would be interested for sentimental reasons.
