Question:
I have been playing since the late 50's and have played through almost every amp imaginable and a few that aren't even imaginable. I like the old Fender amps but the weigh a ton. I seem to always revert back to Marshalls. I have finially decided that Marshalls are only good at getting that Marshall sound. They are not very versatile like Fender amps. So....soon I will be putting my Marshall away and buying another old Fender or maybe a newer boutique amp. But...as always I am sure that in time I will want the good old Marshall sound again. Any help?

Well put, Pt. Marshalls are excellent amps, but they do indeed sound like Marshalls - and that's heaven on earth to a whole lot of players. I myself have always held the Fender amp tone in the highest esteem, and my best friend cannot understand why anyone would ever use anything but a Vox AC30, given a choice. I'm speculating, but I kind of think that 30 years from now, the Line 6 type of amp may be the basic approach to most amplifiers.
