Question:
Not that I am particularly a die-hard Bob Seger fan but the sound of the lead guitar in Main Street is really sweet. Does anyone know what kind of set up is being used? All I have is a Zoom 707 effects pedal, it can dial in plenty of sounds but I have never invented my own patch, maybe some idea of what is being used to get the sound on this song would get me started on figuring it out.
Answer:
I use a strat, and a GT3. Here are the settings I use. Blues pre-amp at about 50% Pre-amp level at 100. Pre-amp EQ: Bass - 50, middle - 65, treble - 50. So that's a +15% midrange boost. Overall EQ: + 3db at 500hz, +3db at 2.5k, high eq set at +3db also. I imagine that's at about 8k. Reverb: Hall @ 1.3s, level at 40% Delay: 420 ms w/ 2 repeats, and I have the delay level at 20%. It sounds pretty close to me. The only thing I'm not sure of is delay level because I got this off a CD, where the digital effects are a bit hotter than an album. Your guitar, amp, and pre-amp settings will probably be different.
