Question:
I've been trying to find some info on my Marshall amp. It is a JMP 50 W Tremelo (with footswitch). I'd like to know when it was made, how many were made, etc. It has a 50 watt head, 2 channels with 2 inputs each, and 2 volume controls. Low, mids, treb, presence, speed and intensity(for tremelo). On/off toggle switch and standby toggle. The speaker cabinet stack is integrated as one. It has a black (ie not fawn) body structure. I live in South Africa and no one here can tell me anything with regards to this particular amp. Can you assist me?
Answer:
I was watching a member of Drill Team a short time back who played the amp you describe. It was a pretty sweet sounding amp. So off the the History of Marshall to read that this series of amplifiers were produced in the 70's although I'm recalling from memory right now. The Tremelo option wasn't to popular from what I understand, so it was dropped or made only for special order. The lower power level means it wont be as pricey as a it's big brother, but you'll prob end up paying more because of the vintage label being applied. Another road trip to my favourite Marshall venders in and around the SF Bay might get a current price which I'll be glad to post.
