Question:
I just got rid of my 50 W JCM 800 Marshall (tube) half stack and bought instead a new Hughes & Kettner Attax 100 Combo.Whoa! This amp rocks! A much more versatile sound than the Marshall. The clean sound is great as is the lead channel and the crunch. Can't wait to try it out with the band. I only hope it's loud enough which will be a change.... The Marshall was too loud and the tone sucked when having to turn it down. I tried it with a Marshall Powerbreak, but no difference really. Also, the Hughes and Kettner fits nicely in my car. The Marshall was a pain to transport... Any one else got this amp? I'm especially interested in info regarding the MIDI extension facility.
Answer:
I actually have the stack version, with a Marshall 1960 Vintage cabinet, and I love it! As someone else posted, the MIDI module just stores presets of the switch settings, nothing else. I haven't bothered with it, since I don't use any effects that generate MIDI program change signals, (in fact, I'm currently not using *any* effects and I couldn't be happier with the tone of my guitar).
