Question:
I have read mixed reviews of this amp. Anyone have good feedback on it? Currently I have a Mesa F-50 combo but it is a little to metal for my taste. I am thinking the Lonestar is more versatile?
Answer:
The F-50 is a great amp. I have the head and 2 cabs. That said, the Lonestar is a bit more versatile but the sound isn't all that different for the extra it's going to cost. I admit I have been considering trading the F-50 for the Lonestar 2x12 combo but I can't jusify it. That F-50 Should do just about anything you need it to. Just out of interest, which combo do you have? I found the 1x12 in the small cab a bit punchy. I have two 2x12 3/4 back cabs and they sound very good. The Lonestar will also sound metal if you turn up the gain. Try turning down the volume on the guitar. More master/less gain on the gain channel play with the gain on the clean channel play with the tine settings. I've played with both but the Lonestar was $1000 more than the basic F-50 combo (Canadian). Maybe check out the Lonestar Special. Now that is a way different machine.
