Mesa/Boogie Studio .22 or Studio .22+, what difference

Tagged As: Mesa Boogie Studio 22

Question:
I am curious to know what difference the plus makes between the Mesa/Boogie Studio .22 and the Studio .22+. Is it something with and graph. eq.? or is it something else?

Answer:
The Studio .22 does not have a 5-band graphic eq; the Studio .22+ has the 5-band graphic eq. If you have a choice, I recommend the Studio .22+ with the eq. The eq really makes a big difference in the sound when you kick it in. I use it like an effect on my Studio .22+. I only kick it in for solos and when I want a really big sound in both the clean mode and the distortion mode. Really a great little amp

The difference between 22 and 22+ is NOT the graphic equalizer. The graphic equalizer is an optional feature for both models. The difference between the 22 and the 22+ is the "Lead Master" control of the 22+ whith which you can control the loudness balance between the 2 channels of the amp. The 22 doesnt have this control, so there is no way to influence this balance. Read the manuals of the two amps at www.mesaboogie.com to confirm.

that's not actually true. The original 22 had eq as an option. The difference is the inclusion of the lead master to address the uncontrollable jump in gain in switching from the clean to the lead channel

that answer about the 22+ verses the 22 isn't right. the difference in the two is the addition of a lead master on the22+. i have a regular 22 with an eq. just has 2 volume controls where the 22+ has 3

That answer is wrong. The 22+ has a "lead master" volume knob, so you can balance the channel volumes. The regular 22 doesn't have that knob. Both versions were available with the 5-band EQ.

I've had a Mesa/Boogie sitting in the corner of my studio for a number of years, sort of a spare amp. I finally got interested in this amp out of necessity [the amps that I was using did not belong to me and eventually ended up with their owners, plus, I was tired of going direct into the console]. Since getting a footswitch for channel switching, I've discovered a real nice piece of equipment. Who knew!

the difference between a 22 and 22+ is an extra volume control called a lead master. the 22+ is a later version of the studio 22. both were available w/ or without eq.

Gee, That's funny... S/N FP17344 I have a studio .22+ and it doesn't have the 5 band Eq, it has Treble, Bass and Middle. So is mine a weird one? or what is the answer to the question posed above? also it is in good condition! Thanks, Chris

Actually, the real difference between these two amps is the 22+ offers separate level control for the hi gain channel. (get the 22+ if possible) The EQ was offered on both models. I have one of each and they both sound great.
