Question:
Does anyone know anything about the Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket? I'm considering buying one, advertised as w/JBL...
Answer:
Wanna check out and listen to The Mesa Boogie Subway (with the original Eminence 10 speaker labeled as a Black Shadow) Here are some links with Real Audio files With a Tom Anderson Hollow T and no pedals http://perso.easynet.fr/~duncan/altr.html Alternating between a Fender SRV Strat and a PRS Classic Custom 24 http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/Quarter/9660/ae10.html (the last page of the concert with amp settings picture and a nice pic of the two guitars) and with the PRS at http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/Quarter/5598/all.html This is a very nice little amp if you play small clubs and bar gigs - not only does it sound great on it's own with both single coil and Humbugging pickups but you can dial in a little 'crunch' through the middle switch and the reverb is very lush. Before I was using a Boogie 22 for these kind of gigs but it would not stay clean in the clean channel when pushed, especially with either humbuggers or Texas Special pickups. One piece of advice - change the power tubes to the best you can find or afford.
