Have been offered a Mesa Boogie DC-3 combo for 450 UKP, is this a good deal? Love the sound of my mates DC-5, does the DC-3 sound similar, considering the power amp section uses 4 x EL84s instead of 2 x 6L6s in the DC-5?

Buggered if I know, Stephen. I have a DC-2 that I'm very happy with. They are monstrously heavy, so take care lugging the thing around. I believe that Andrew Stelmasiak (aka Andrew Lefty), who's sitting just over there, also has a DC-2. What's your opinion, Andrew? I know there are those who love and those who loathe the Mesa/Boogie sound. I'm on the LOVE side of the fence. :) I should have thought that the pre-amp side of the amp shapes the tones with the power amp side producing the oomph
