Question:
I just picked up an MP3 player (An apple iPod), and I want to use it as a portable music library. I realize I may not get ultimate audiophile quality out of it, but it beats lugging a couple hundred CD's around with me, to work and back. Anyway, I'm looking for a good quality cable to connect the thing's headphone mini-jack to an RCA in. Does anyone actually make a good one, or am I going to have to do a DIY job? I want to be able to connect it to my pre-amp at home, to an RCA in on my car stereo, and to my Creek OBH-11 headphone amp at work (So I can quit using the annoying earbuds that came with the player). Any help?
Answer:
While it's probably more than you are looking for, the 'iPod Connection Kit' at www.drbott.com includes connectors for every iPod occasion including a stereo mini-to-RCA connector, an extension cable, an FM transmitter for a wireless connection to your car stereo (useful for those rental cars without a dedicated RCA input jack :), and an auto charger 12VDC-to-Firewire power cable. I can't speak to its quality, however. From the picture at: http://63.231.1.211/lg/0142-IPCK.jpg the mini-to-RCA connector looks to be pretty cheesy
