Question:
I would like to connect some computer speakers to my television. But in order to do so, I need to connect a mini-stereo male into two RCA audio females (on the back of my TV). I know, I know. I should just but an stereo amp. But I'm trying to keep the price of this down. I don't near home theater. I just need better sound from my TV programs. So... I went to Radio Shack, but wasn't able to find an RCA audio male with a mini-stereo female. The best I could do was to find an RCA audio female that converted to an mini stereo male. But then I couldn't find a way to connect two mini stereo males together! Does anyone know if Radio Shack (or someone else) makes an adapter to suit my needs?
Answer:
I think what you need is RCA-stereo-male to 1/8-mini-male, then a 1/8-female-to-female. I know Radio Shack has at least one 1/8-dual-female to single 1/8 male, and that could be used. Put electrical tape on the unsed male 1/8. Radio Shack sells a 1/4 stereo to 2 RCA jack adapter and a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter. That would get you in. They may have to order it. There is, however, another question. Are you sure that the RCA outputs on your TV are speaker level? They may be line level, intended to go to an amplifier.
