Question:
I would like to know if anyone has schematics for tube amplifiers in the range of 50-100 Watts? I am going to use it as an guitar amplifier. Maybe someone has schematics for Marshall, Fender or MusicMan amplifiers. Maybe someone knows of a FTP-site containing schematics. By the way, is there a FAQ for this group? Where can I find it?
Answer:
Go to a music store or guitar equipment store and ask for The Tube Amplifier Book, Volume 3 by Aspen Pittman. Aspen is the prinicpal behind Groove Tubes, and this book contains the schematics for the majority of guitar amps ever made. Lots of schematics for early to late tube amplifiers i.e. Fender, Marshall etc... If you are looking for books on designing your own, you can use just about any old reference on vacuum tube design of audio amplifiers. This book is used primarily, I think for collectors of old amps so that they can restore and repair their amplifiers. Of course, you can use the schematics to build your own amplifier, but the first thing to do is to obtain the proper transformers. It can be difficult to find power transformers, audio transformers, etc. these days. I have heard of people who wind or re-wind old transformers to meet their needs, but I would rather not deal with that. The tubes used for audio amplifiers are generally easy to find....
