Question:
Has anyone tried one of these: http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?ItemNumber=VINTAGE16&CID=VINT Not real loud, of course, but for home or small venues where the amp is miked?
Answer:
Yea, I owned one for about a year and have owned its bigger brother (the 1x12 50 watt Nomad) for about 8 years or so. I think it's a great little amp switchable between 5/16 watts. For jazz, it's good for the home, but has little headroom for anything much larger as you would expect. I did try it at a couple jazz jams actually...with a bassist, drummer and sax. What I did was crank the master volume and then turn the gain up as much as needed from there. It was loud enough at the higher wattage setting, but I found the tone to break up too early for my own likings. But some do like that breakup. So anyway, for the home and being miked, yea, I liked the amp for that.
