Vox Tonelab SE or valve combo amp?

Tagged As: Vox Tone Lab Se

Question:
I am hesitating between the Vox Tonelab SE or a valve combo amp (say Mesa boogie). I play home and in small concerts, mainly soft rock and blues. What do you think? I think a valve amp might be too loud to get to the right sound...

Answer:
I have the desktop Tonelab (not the SE) and really like it. I've used various multi-effects units and really like the Tonelab, although many of the presets suck. Never understand why so many multi-effects units have such lousy presets. If you play blues and decide to go with a Mesa, look for an old Mark 4 or a new Lone Star. Both are great amps for blues and classic rock. I have no experience with the Vox Tonelab, but it gets great reviews. If you choose to go with a modeler, try out a POD XT Live too. I love mine.
