Vox Valvetronix Ad100vt

Tagged As: Vox Valvetronix Ad100vt

Question:
I'm looking to buy a new amp, and the Vox Valvetronic AD50VT both looks and sounds like it could be the amp for me. http://www.voxamps.co.uk/products/valvetronix/ad15vtad30vt.htm My only concern is that when I gig I like to hear/use the sound from my amp, esp to get feedback, but reading through the user manual for the AD50VT I see that it says connecting headphones to this jack will mute the internal speaker (quote below). Does this also apply for a line out cable plugged in? If so, any way around thiS?

Answer:
I have been using a 100 W 2 x 12 SS amp for about 20 years. It went south about a year ago. It always had enough power for our gigs. Then I bought a new 100 W 1 x 12 amp. It sounds fairly good with my LP but unfortunately not with my Tele. So at our latest gig I used my daughter's 60 W SS amp. Although I don't think we play very loud, I had to turn this amp up until it almost hit the clipping point. So I definitely need 100 SS Watts. If I decide to go tube, 30 Watts may not be enough. I realize that the AD30VT or even the AD50VT won't give me the headroom I need. I would most likely have to go for the AD100VT.

I just purchased 2 Valvetronix AD100vt's, both brand new from Guitar Center. The 1st one sounded great but the volume would fluctuate as I played on certain amp models. I took it back and got another one that had never been played. It produced no sound whatsoever! Vox quality control is shit and I would not recommend getting one of these if you are a working musician as they are totally unreliable.
