i am planning to buy an electric guitar for my daughter. I have seen Peavey Raptors and Yamaha Pacificas on ebay both priced around $75 to $125. Are either of these a good beginner guitar. Any other suggestions in a similar price range.........Also any suggestions for a guitar amplifier in a similar price range??

The yamaha Pacifica is the best cheapo beginner guitar out there for the money...I looked high and low through low end equipment and had my brother buy one for my nephew two christmas' ago...great playability, good tone (for a cheap pickup) and fair quality constuction..go for the yamaha...the P in peavey stands for Pathetic! Correction, a Peavey Predator is what I have. The Raptor is not as nice. Don't know how it compares to a Yamaha. You may want to look for a new one instead of new. I don't think the Raptor cost mush more than a hundred new. You might be able to try them out at decide better that way.
