Yamaha Guitar Amp

Tagged As: Yamaha Guitar Amp

Question:
I have a mid 70's Vintage Yamaha G100B-212 guitar amp that I would like to resurrect if possible. The power amp board blew up many years ago. I have tried to get a new power amp direct from Yamaha but they no long stock it. (Well it is an old amp, they say....). I was wondering if anyone knew of anyplace I could find parts for this old beast, or if I should just sell off the speakers and dump the rest. Web searches are not that helpful, since Yamaha makes just about every type of product in the known free world.

Answer:
I'm not aware of any discrete components that aren't available (i.e. resistors, transistors, etc) that would prevent a good tech/shop from resurrecting your amp. (Although the pots may be NLA, you said you had a 'power amp blow'.) Actually, Yamaha still has the pots available. One of them did burn up when it went kablooey. I bought a few spares from Yamaha direct, as I could not find an acceptable alternative in the electronics stores. The rest of the parts are pretty much available.
