Question:
Does anyone have any expereince with Yamaha power amps? I have a Yamaha processor, and am considering a Yamaha power amp and pre-amp. I'm also considering Acurus and Rotel. Can anyone shead some light on my quest?
Answer:
I can only say good things about the Yamaha pre and power amps I have owned and seen others use. They seem to consistently achieve low noise on their poweramps, and have often had very low noise moving-coil stages in their better preamps. No failures that I am aware of, but then the gear has only seen long use, not abuse. No other distinctive features except a unique loudness control that is actually fairly well thought out, and can be put to good use. Not that I have used it regularly anyway. I want amps to do quietly do their job, and never bother me sonically or practically.
