Question:
I'm in a search for a decent (all solid wood) classical guitar and have had no luck looking in Birmingham so I figure I could surely find some places in Nashville (I'm in Florence, AL). Anyway, I plan on making my way there tomorrow, and if anybody could tell me of any good music stores that have a at least a fair selection of classical guitars I'd greatly appreciate it.
Answer:
Cotten Music had some nice ones last time I was there. They are in Hillsboro Village (21st Ave.) right down the street from Vanderbilt. It's a little store that's pretty easy to miss. I bought a pretty inexpensive La Patria from them and really like it. There is also a guy in Nashville named Jerry Roberts. He's got a site at http://www.lamancha.com/. I think he carries both new and used guitars. He doesn't have a storefront, you have to make an appointment with him. I've found an okay selection at Sam Ash in Rivergate at times. I'd try Sam Ash Music. I visit their store quite often and find that hardly anyone has a bigger selection, nor can beat their prices. Cotten Music on 21st South. The Guitar Gallery in,I think, Goodlettesville. Gruhn's on Broadway. Talk to Jim Wood, the doorman at the Station Inn. He gets good archtops and flattops. Perhaps he has a line on a good classical.
