Yamaha stereo amp problems

Tagged As: Yamaha Stereo Amplifier

Question:
Finally got a CD-RW and working on taking an old album and recording it to CD. Great. My problem now is that my stereo amplifier keeps powering off. Power it on and about 2-3 seconds, it shuts off. I suspect that there is some kind of thermal cutoff that has popped, but WHY? Question: Have I damaged by amp by introducing too much resistance via a patch cord and the single stereo plug that I have going into Line In on my PC sound card. Amp is a Yamaha RX-V670 Sound card is a SB Live Value Digital I am using some fairly long patch cables (10') , probably from radio shack and a double to single stereo plug for attaching to my PC. Any help would be appreciated

Answer:
14 days ago i got the same problem, but my amp (Technics) stays off for good i must tell you i made the connections while pc and amp was under power a new amp was less expensive then repair the old one new amp (again Technics) and new cables (and a lot of guts) and now everything is working normal check all connections and cables before you try again.(and be carefull
