I'm a total beginner, just bought my first guitar. Can Fender's Getting Started on Acoustic Guitar DVD be used to learn to play on my classical guitar?

But if he wants to play in true classical style he should get a classical video. Everything is different - how the hands are held, the whole finger-vs-pick thing, how the guitar is held and that little folding footstool thing. Worried? Like, sweating bullets, sour-stomach, soil-yer-pants worried? Probably not. Unless there are subliminal messages imprinted in the video by the likes of Judas Priest or Scientologists you won't be forcibly confined to a playing style for life by watching a video. If it teaches worthwhile lessons about music and guitar playing in general that's good. Learn the basics from it and later pick up more classical-relevant material. However, do NOT attempt to adjust your truss rod if the video shows how to do that!
