Power Chord Chart

Tagged As:

Question:

Does anyone have a chart that tells your what note you are playing when you play a 5th power chord. I am also wondering what the difference is between the two note power chords and the three note ones (where you play the same fret as the second note only a string up).

Answer:

A power chord is not a chord by definition. A chord must have three different notes. A power chord is a two note chord. The 5th power chord is THE power chord and is composed of the Tonic or root note and the fifth of that root. For example A (root) E (fifth). The three note power chord you are referring to is A E and A at the fifth fret. So you can see that it is actually still only two notes. Want to try a really cool power chord try this, it is an A5
