Pjs Guitar Chord

Question:

what do you guys think is the easiest (pj) song to learn on guitar for a beginner....i mean, i can play nothingman and not for you...but what other songs are relatively easy...to pass time until september 17th (when i take my second stab at the road test)

Answer:

PJ's guitar work ain't the hardest thing goin', so you have a lot to choose from. Easy easy stuff is: Release (D, G no root, C, repeat ad nauseum) Not For You (Make an E major chord. slide that up two frets, then one more, letting both E strings and the B ring open on all of 'em) Last Kiss (retardedly simple: G, Em, C, D) Porch (A5, C, A for verses [play sloppy as hell and make a lot of extra noise], then G, A, A Sharp, C barre chords for the chorus. Noodle in E minor over the solo section). The beauty of PJ's guitar work is in the details. McCready is a fairly standard SRV clone on his leads, 'specially on the early stuff. But Stone's got this amazing way of taking a really simple two chord thing and adding some jacked riffage on it to make it sound really unique. There is a somewhat accurate TAB book out for TEN that can help you get started on discovering those little details. All PJ tunes are basically simple, but Stone adds stuff almost always to make it sound very cool, and that stuff can take a trained ear to pick out. You can fake being Mike by pretty much playing nice Pentatonic box leads over whatever the root chord of the solo section is on a given tune. He's got soul, though, so put some feel into it and have fun.
