Question:
I just bought a Fender strat guitar with custom shop FAT 50' pickups. Any recommendation for practicing amp? I am thinking about a 50 W power.
Answer:
50 watts a practice amp?? bet your neighbors love you. to me, a practice amp is one of those small Danelectros for under $100, or a Fender Bronco for around 2 bills. Absolutely. My 20 watt Subway Rocket is louder than hell, and in fact, I just jammed this weekend without even using the PA..just dimed both gain and master on Contour channel///it was competeing witha 400 watt Mesa Strategy Bass amp and 8x10 cab. I don't know how they do it, but it is a complete beast. If you spent that kinda dough on a Custom Shop Fender Strat, I don't think any ole practice amp would do it justice..in fact, it may have the potential to make that guitar sound like dirt. So, you may want to invest in a *really* good, smaller amplifier..that sounds grat, that you can grow into..not out of. With that said, I am ultimately a fan and play a 20 watt all=tube Mesa/Boogie Subway Rocket Reverb. It costs about $519 all over the country ( one set price). It sounds huge, and can go from clean to blues to Metallica tones. I just recorded a song with it this weekend, and will post a clip in a few months after production.
