Guitar Effects Pedals

Tagged As:

Question:

I am attempting to use some of my old guitar effects pedals with my bass rig and am having a few problems (i play Bass full time now so its either a case of use them or get rid). They are a Marshall Jackhammer JH-1 and a Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Wah. However - what ever settings a try on the Jackhammer i seem to loose all definition of the notes - especially at the low end - therefore when i am practising with my band it has the effect of dropping the bass out. Is anyone out there using these with their Bass? If so can anyone recommend some settings? Does it even work or are Guitar effects designed specifically for the guitar?

Answer:

Pedals in general tend to do that. Some are more bass friendly than others. Some are bass specific. It's almost hit or miss, as even if it works for one ear, it won't satisfy the next. If you ask for a recommendation of a bass friendly pedal, you're bound to get several that sound like ass to you, but not the person responding. It's all up to your ears. Try as many as you can. Try splitting the signal before the boxes and blending some of the unprocessed signal in to the amp afterwards.
