Question:
I was just looking at the latest issue of Guitar Player Mag, with Pete Townshend on the cover. The cover story was about Brit-Pop Guitar players and the Top 20 who were the most influential. Steve Howe is now where to be seen, neither is Robert Fripp or Steve Hackett. But no Steve Howe!!!!??? Guess who they do have.... some guy from a group called Suede? Plus whoever the guy is from Radiohead Any comment?
Answer:
This is correct, after that the magazine inducted him into there guitar player hall of fame at which point you can't vote for him anymore, or I think it would have gone past 5 years!! Again, BRIT POP is a style of music, not just an abbreviation for all British pop. The term Brit-Pop does not refer to all British pop, but rather to a specific '90s genre, led by Oasis and Blur. These bands have not been influenced by prog, so there's no reason to expect the likes of Howe or Fripp to turn up.
