Martin Guitar Repair

Tagged As:

Question:

I am looking to buy a Martin Guitar. So far I have narrowd my choices down to the Martin D-28, D-16, D-1, D-1R or D-2R. I am not sure I can afford the D-28 but I want to buy something that will increase in value. My question is, will the Martin Models that use laminated backs and sides increase in value or am I better off to buy a solid wood model like the D-16. I used to play years ago, and I am getting back into bluegrass and I have never owned a guitar that cost more than $100 or sounded like one that cost more than $50.00 Any suggestions on a good Martin for Bluegrass

Answer:

Our local guitar repair shop ( authorized for Martin and Taylor and others) usually has a problem with Taylor warranty repairs. Taylor will only pay for the cheapest repair, not necessarily the proper repair. Martin will pay for the correct repair every time. They had a 1937 Martin in for warranty repair last time I stopped by, Martin authorized the repair no questions. Taylor does not stand behind their warranties

I've done many warranty repairs for both martin and taylor. they both stand behind their products equally well. Further more, martin does not pay their warranty repair centers fair rates for repairs performed, whereas taylor pays fair rates to their warranty service centers. To say that "taylor does not stand behind their warranties" is completely untrue. If anything, Taylor bends over backwards to keep their customers happy.

Hello, I have no idea when you posted this question so maybe this is a waste of time. I have several Martins that will increase in value and will be a joy to play. Especially the SPD-16R. Forget the laminated ones. If you can't afford a solid wood Martin I do have one that sounds and plays very comparable to Martins - a Walden G-3000. Just contact me and maybe I can help you. Jim
