What would you use a Shure SM 59 for??

Question:
What would you use a Shure SM 59 for??

Answer:
Use it as the 1st device in a signal chain to record or amplify sound. The SM59 was a relatively flat response dynamic microphone. It has a lot of uses if you have a good preamp. It has a great internal shock mount system. Mic a guitar amp with it, it will tame screechy vocals, etc Use a preamp with a lot of clean gain, since its output level is very low compared to modern condenser mics. The 66 dB (max) of most entry-to-mid priced consoles and preamps won't cut it for low level signals with the SM59. Good shock mount and flatish frequency response. It is the standard mic of the Chicago City Council Chamber PA system, although theirs is a beautiful gold color
