Question:
I recently found an old Shure 55S mic in a junk shop. It has the old 3-pin Amphenol screw-on connector. How do I wire it to a current XLR plug? Some Shure documentation I found on the web indicates that pin 3 is hot, but I don't know whether pin 1 or 2 is Common.
Answer:
Similarly, I just found an old Sony F-99S mic for a buck at a junk shop. It's got a molded plastic connector, 3 pins, with the L pin offset a bit, a center pin, and a R pin. I checked out the Shure site, but they don't have any info on this one. Anyone got any ideas on how to wire it up proper-like? TIA, This is a stereo mike, right? Left and right and common ground. On a balanced mike you can tell what is what because one pin will be tied to the case, and that's pin 1 on the XLR, and the other two pins will have maybe one or two ohms between them and no connection to the case, and those are the signal pins. Someone gave me an old Shure Unisphere I Model 565S Does anybody know anything about this mike? It has a four pin connector coming out of it. I got a cord with it that is four pin coming out of the mic and a 1/4 inch plug on the other end.
