Can anyone suggest microphones that would be comparable to the Shure sm57?
Answer:
The SM57 is a cardioid instrument mic as opposed to a vocal mic - so the closest match is likely to be a similarly priced mic designed for the same purpose from another manufacturer. That said, mics are as varied in response as mouthpieces are in tone production, so it's usually a case of trying a few models until you find one you like. Don't dismiss vocal mics though - depending on your tastes ( and your kit ) these can often give a much broader sound.
