Question:
I'm trying to do some quality recording of my flute playing. What is a good microphone for high qaulity recording? I currently have just a standard mic which seems to work OK (not great) for guitar, sax, and drum, but doesn't record the flute well at all. Especially anthing above C3. Any suggestions from those who have recorded with good results.

Answer:
I use a SM81 (SHURE). You might try a tube mic with a pre-amp, or possibly a good ribbon mic. The rest depends on the player and the type of music you're recording. Good Luck and remember, the ears have it.
