Charles Fisher did make an active ribbon mic way back in the 70's. Micha Shattner of WDBH has some of them and we have repaired one of them. But RCA had active ribbon mics in the 1930s. Almost as soon as the ribbon microphone was invented, RCA built in tube preamplifiers. They were fairly big and impressive. http://microphonium.blogspot.com
