Anyone use Quik-Lok stands?

Tagged As: Quik Lok Stand

Question:
I'd like to get a new stand for live performance. Right now, I'm using an old Apex stand, but I can't see the screen or buttons on my bottom keyboard. I've been thinking about a Quik-Lok 2 -tier (or maybe 3-tier), but noone in my area has one on display. I hate to order something I knownothing about first-hand. Anyone use this stand? Can someone recommend a specific model?

Answer:
I've owned a quick lock stand 3-tiered one for about 6 years. I've not done live gigging with it so I can't comment on efficacy of use in that environment. I imagine the Ultimate Support stand looks more likely to be an easier thing to setup and tear down, than the quicklock stand. On the other hand I got the quick lok stand because it is the only thing that looked like it would support a Kurzweil MIDIboard, their long out of production behemoth that has a great acoustic piano action and 88 keys. This thing weighs about 75 pounds. The only problem I've had with has been the plastic feet that sit at the ends of the 2nd and 3rd tiers. They have broken over the years, again with me moving them around at all. The first time they broke, it was in less than a year of owning it and the guy at quik-lok sent me 2 extra sets as a way of saying, Jeepers this doesn't usually happen! I had a Roland D70 in the top tier and that's a 76-weighted-key synth. I have one of those feet left out of the 4 I got...
