Question:
I'm thinking about buying an Ultimate AX-48B keyboard stand but I have a couple of concerns. (This is the stand that is based on one triangular post leaning away from you.) I will need it to hold a Fatar Studio 90 (full sized 88-key heavy motha') and an Ensoniq VFX (5-ocatve). I need to know if the supports that hold the keyboards from underneath are wide enough to accomodate the Fatar well, and how stable the stand is (i.e. for rock gigs). Also, any other suggestions?
Answer:
I can't respond to your specific keyboards, but I can say that I use this stand for my K2000 and U-20 and am extremely pleased. I also have found out what the company means by guaranteed for life. One of the wingnuts busted on my stand when our bass player took the liberty of dropping the stand on the floor. I called Apex and said my wingnut broke on my Ultimate stand. Instead of asking me for my invoices or proofs of purchase in triplicate they simply asked me for my address. One week later, a new set of wingnuts were in my mailbox. Little things like that, I think, say a lot about a company's character. The guys in the band and I have also decided that in the keyboard-stand-as- fertility-symbol category, the Ultimate has those wimpy X-frame keyboard stands beat all to heck. And, really, what could be more important than that?
