If guitar falls in good hard-shell case? More options

Tagged As: Acoustic Guitar Hardshell Case

Question:
Just a general question... if you drop your guitar on the floor, in its hard-shell case, is there any damage to the guitar or does a good hard-shell case absorb the impact completely?

Answer:
Yes, that most certainly can. On the other hand, it's pretty well guaranteed to happen if you*don't* have a good case. My sister took her acoustic with her on vacation. On arriving at the airport, she happend to see them unloading the luggage. Yep, there went her guitar (in it's very nice hard case) out the door and onto the tarmac, whereupon the case shattered. She ran out onto the tarmac (upsetting security no end) and found her guitar completely... unharmed! My definition of a good case. So the answer to the question is: Yes, your guitar can still be damaged inside a hard case. Some hard cases will do more to protect the instrument than others, some makers may even provide some type of warrenty. But it is almost certain that if you drop the guitar when it is not in a hard case it will suffer damage, perhaps severe.
