I'm trying to enter a contest in my country (Spain) to young players who plays solo songs for their instruments (for example a violin player doing Paganini). What do you think is the best song for solo electric guitar (not the best solo for electric guitar o the best song with electric guitar and band). Right now my choices are: Day at The Beach and Midnight - SATRIANI Sisters - VAI

now if you're a fan of vai and satriani, why in the world would you choose those? There are far better songs by them. Plus I think you're missing the point. Speed isn't what makes a solo or a song impressive. The songs you are considering are fine and all, and I can't play them, but.....I don't think too many people would be impressed by that.
